125th Street Business Improvement District
Each holiday season, 125th Street is decorated with what seems like an endless amount of lights. Residents of Harlem and visitors from other New York City neighborhoods can stroll down 125th Street to enjoy the lights while doing their holiday shopping and supporting businesses in Harlem. Historically, the lights on 125th Street have been turned on during the Parade of Lights, the crown jewel of the Harlem Holiday Lights event in November. Due to COVID-19 and to discourage large gatherings of people, Harlem Holiday Lights 2020 will not feature a parade. Instead, Harlemites can watch a live stream of the 2020 Caravan of Lights from the comfort and safety of their home. The lights will still be turned on during the live stream!
The Caravan of Lights, featuring lighted floats from community organizations, will travel on 125th Street and throughout Harlem spreading holiday cheer. All community organization members on the floats will follow all New York State public health protocols. To prevent crowding on 125th Street, the Caravan of Lights will be live-streamed online via social media and UBC-TV. Check back soon for more information about the live stream!
The Caravan of Lights will be available to view online. Check back for more details! If you choose to view the Caravan of Lights in person, please follow social distancing guidelines, and be sure to wear a mask! Check back soon for the Caravan route.
In mid-November, the Caravan of Lights will travel on 125th Street and throughout Harlem spreading holiday cheer! Instead of joining us on the street, the 125th Street BID and its community partners have set up a live stream of the event to be enjoyed from the comfort and safety of your home.
To make the most of the season and bring holiday joy to Harlem, we invite those who have businesses and live along the route to decorate your windows and doors. When the Caravan passes by (which you will be able to see either out your window or on the live stream), turn your lights on and wave and cheer. Share a photo on Instagram!
